Returning for 2010 is the second annual Chris Webber Memorial ride, which will once again be a week long mini Bike & Build open to alumni of any previous trip. Meeting in beautiful Orlando, FL on December 28th for a quick "re-orientation," the group will immediately make a break for the coast, spending the first day riding to Cocoa Beach. The following three riding days traverse the scenic Florida Treasure Coast, featuring New Years in the West Palm Beach area and an overnight in Ft. Pierce. The ride will conclude in sunny Fort Lauderdale and be followed by a day of building with the local Habit for Humanity of Broward County.
This ride is in memory of Christopher Howland Webber, who passed away in March 2007 at age 25. Chris was a Bike & Build trip leader in 2005, and became the Program Director for the organization in the fall of that same year. Chris possessed a steadfast dedication to Bike & Build and an unwavering desire to strengthen the organization. He is missed dearly, and all of the proceeds from this ride will be donated to the Chris Webber Memorial Fund. In addition to donating over 500 hours of volunteer time to Habitat for Humanity, this trip hopes to donate over $10,000 for the fund.
