Past Contributions

To date, Bike & Build has contributed more than $3.3MM to affordable housing groups. Our organization makes contributions in four classifications:

1 - Countributions to En-Route Affordable Housing Organizations
These contributions are typically $100, and are made to local organizations designated by the community groups which host our trips.

2 - Grants
These contributions are allocated through a competitive grant application process. Bike & Build trip participants review the applications and - as a group - decide which proposals to fund. In 2011, grant awards ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.

3 - Pre-Arranged Contributions
Upon occassion Bike & Build has worked with a particular affordable housing group to produce our events. In these cases, a portion of our trips' proceeds are reserved for these groups. Pre-arranged contributions have ranged from $10,000-$60,000.

4 - Rider-Specified Contributions
Since 2009 each cross country rider has been able to designate one affordable housing organization of their choice to recieve a $500 unrestricted grant.
