Thank you for your interest in applying for a Bike & Build trip for the summer of 2010!
All trips are currently on waitlist status... read all about it at bikeandbuild.org/waitlist.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when applying:
- We accept applications for riders that are no older than 25 as of May 1st 2010. We accept leaders as old as 28 as of May 1st.
- We have a full time staff of 3 people! Please keep this in mind whenever you're interacting with the office. We try our hardest to respond to phone calls and e-mails in a timely fashion, but it is physically impossible for us to respond to everything immediately. We're not a big corporation and you'll often find that we try to make our materials both informative and somewhat humorous. It's just the way we roll.
- Please allow 2-3 business days for us to process your application.
- BIKE & BUILD IS NOT A PROFESSIONALLY LED CYCLING TOUR. Some days you will have amazing overnight accommodations and meals. Some days you will not. Some days you will shower with a hose. Some days you will get lost. Some days are going to be absolutely amazing. Others will not be. In the end it is all worth it though. Trust us (and 1000+ other alums).
- We have 32 leadership positions available and we strongly encourage you to check out what they entail. We hire leaders from a wide range of backgrounds, and you don't necessarily need to have previous experience with Bike & Build or be a cyclist to be considered for the job.
- We do not know how long it will take for trips to fill up. In 2009 trips started filling up by the end of November and the program reached 100% waitlist status in January. It will most likely fill even sooner this year, so don't delay signing up!
- Dates are not yet finalized. As we mention on the Route Information Page we have a general idea of dates but please realize they are not yet set in stone and may change, though most likely not more than +/-3 days in either direction. The reason for this is that we are still in the process of implementing suggestions from 2009 riders and leaders in an effort to make the 2010 trips even better than before.
- On each individual route's page the dates are currently not listed (they appear as 0/0). Until they are listed please go by the dates on the Route Information Page. Some trips will be having days added to them which are not yet reflected in the day-to-day itinerary.
- We try to assign you to a trip based on your route preferences, though the program is first come first serve. If you are not put on your 1st choice trip we can add you to the waiting list for it. Though we can't guarantee it, we are frequently able to move people around to other trips as people drop out and switch routes.
- We accept applications for riders that are no older than 25 as of May 1st 2010. We accept leaders as old as 28 as of May 1st.
