Lawrence's bio:

My name is Larry and I?m currently a fourth year architecture student at the University of Virginia. I?m from Morristown, New Jersey and I love adventures, running, and music. I?m quite an avid whistler?you?ll often find me strolling down the street tootin whichever fine tune has settled into my head for the day. I enjoy classic 90?s family sitcoms, Haruki Murakami, books that make me laugh out loud (i.e. David Sedaris), and interesting people. I?m a native east coaster and am curious about this place called the Midwest?I can?t wait to explore America, on a bike nonetheless. The issue of affordable housing has interested me since I joined Habitat for Humanity back in the day (on a Wednesday, of course) at Morristown High School. At first, I didn?t know much about it, but over the years I?ve developed a heightened awareness of the global need for affordable housing. I?ve devoted myself to this cause because I believe strongly that everyone is entitled to a simple, decent home. I enjoy working to create affordable housing because it provides me with the opportunity to make a large, tangible impact on people?s lives. By physically building homes, or advocating for legislation to provide the means to gain a home, I can actually improve the lives of families across America. So far, I?ve helped build homes in Morris County, NJ, Charlottesville, VA, Charleston, SC, and Jacksonville, FL. Last summer, I also had the chance to go to Washington, D.C. to lobby for more affordable housing. I met with three members of Congress from New Jersey and Virginia and helped get new legislation passed to help fight the housing crisis in America (uber-exciting!). I?m incredibly psyched for Bike and Build this summer and I know it will be one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I look forward to meeting everyone and starting our grand adventure coast-to-coast! Check out my website for updates on my journey: larrybikesamerica.wordpress.com
