Jane's bio: Greetings! My name is Jane O'Brien and I'm a graduate of Michigan State University. While I currently work as a Horticulturist and enjoy plants and all their glory I have a strong desire to work with and to help people in a more direct way. I see Bike and Build as a way to do just that. I have had many opportunities in life, but none thus far have been as unique as Bike and Build. Last spring I decided to purchase a bike so that I could compete in triathlons and after finding out quickly how much I enjoyed cycling I became addicted to riding. When I heard about Bike and Build, I decided that this was something I had to do. Combining my passion for people and my new found enthusiasm for cycling seems like a dream come true! A few years ago I decided to take a leap and move cross-country from Michigan to Georgia and in order to do this I needed a place to live, but couldn?t afford anything right away. Some of my best friends just happened to offer up some very affordable housing in the area. Without their kindness, generosity, and understanding, I would not have been able to follow my dreams and try something new and different. Many people are not as lucky as I was and I want to do what I can to help others achieve their dreams and hopefully give them an opportunity they might not have otherwise. When I'm not on my bike, I can be found running, hiking, and occasionally canoeing down the river with friends. I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible and playing in the wonderful sunshine that the south provides! I have travelled a fair bit, but I have yet to see all that this country has to offer. I am eager to share this life-changing experience with others and to make memories with some amazing folks!
