Isabelle's bio:

My name is Isabelle Kim, but most people know me as Izzy. I?m finishing up a Masters in Computer Science in June 2009 at Stanford University, at which point I?ll wrap up my five years of college life and probably start working full-time somewhere within the same 50 mile radius I?ve lived my whole life. During most of my time in college, I?ve also been involved in teaching a small section of students enrolled in one of the introductory computer science classes. Which basically means I help students learn to write games like Breakout and Boggle (as well as useful skills for their future in programming). While I?m not doing my own or grading others? schoolwork, I?ve spent most of my time in college playing competitive ultimate (frisbee), and loving every moment of it. So you?re basically guaranteed that I?ll be bringing a disc with and given the slightest suggestion would be more than happy to throw with you. I?ve also started to enjoy rock climbing, hiking, camping, and pretty much everything involving some form of water: swimming, kayaking, skiing, snowboarding, and ice-skating (although I?m not very good at any of them). In the rest of my free time, I enjoy baking, especially brownies and cookies, and in the past couple of years I?ve started dabbling in photography. When my friend told me she was going to be doing Bike & Build this summer, I was looking for something fun and meaningful to do during the time between graduation and starting to work full time. I wasn?t sure what I wanted to do, but I knew that it was going to be something where I could make a positive impact (no matter how small or big) on the world. Once I heard about Bike & Build and started looking into the program and the problem of affordable housing, I realized that this was the perfect opportunity for me. I don?t know much about building, but I?m looking forward to learning and making an impact. As for biking, I?ve come a long way since my first fall off of a two-wheeler when I was 4, but I?ve still got a long way to go before making it across the country ? and I?m ready for every step of the journey. To use the final words of one of my favorite comics, "It's a magical world, Hobbes, ol' buddy... let's go exploring!"
