Hi Everyone!
Never in my life would I have imagined to be planning a cross country bike ride...but I'm sitting here writing my bio just for that.
I first found Bike & Build while searching for different charity bike rides. I have a friend who finished a cross country tour for cancer this past summer and it really inspired/got me interested in doing something like it. To be honest, I'm not sure if I was even serious when searching, but when I came across Bike & Build I knew I had to do it. Looking at how many people had finished such an amazing feat and how the organization raised so much money and awareness, I wanted to be a part of that. So here I am to find out if I can accomplish this crazy ride while helping to support a great cause at the same time.
Bike & Build's push for affordable housing is something really to be proud of. To me, everyone has the right to at the very lease adequate and affordable housing. This organization is just making sure that this right is being upheld. Often times I take granted for life and how good I have it. Things like a clean/safe home, being able to take a hot shower and drinking clean water are all things that are just givens in my life, but there are people that are missing even these simple needs. This gives me the opportunity to at least try and help alleviate this problem. To know that by just riding a bike, I can help people have access to more affordable homes is a great feeling and something that will definitely motivate me. I haven't had too much experience with community service so this just adds to the excitement. My service background is really just playing with my high school jazz band at retirement centers and mission trips that I've gone to.
For some more personal info, I'm not really sure what to say. I wanted to be in medicine ever since I was little, but it seems like I'm getting into more of the business world. A dream of mine would be to run a non-profit or to have a small coffee shop. I like lots of artsy/creative things like music and photography, but truth be told I'm not very artistic which creates a bad CYCLE (haha yes I love making corny jokes). Still I try.
I can't wait to get started even though it's still pretty far away. I've pretty much ran out of things to say so I'll just leave this where it's at. Give me a honk if you see me on the road!
