Hey everyone!
My name is Zac Maas and I am 21 years old. I am a senior Business Economics major at Penn State Behrend a branch campus of Penn State located in Erie, Pa. I am in Econ club and although i dont play any NCAA sports, I participate in most of the intramurals at PSB. I also compete in triathlons and golf during the summer months.
I heard about Bike & Build from a friend who took part in a similar trip a few summers ago. He said the experience was life changing and thats when I knew i had to give it a shot. Working with other college students to raise money for the Affordable Housing cause while cycling across the country raising awareness, I'm hoping, an increadibly rewarding experience. Knowing that there are people out there that need help is insentive enough to take on this increadible endeavor.
I have never worked with Affordable Housing organizations before and I feel that I needed to get involved, and why not go big the first time around. Living life to its fullest is something that i feel everyone must do, and if that means going on the road for the summer helping others, thats what I will do. I will be working with Affordable Housing organizations around Erie leading up to the beginning of the trip, trying to do my part in my home town before taking myself across the country.
I feel that this trip will be an increadible expreince on so many levels. Being with people my own age, changing lives for people that none of us know just becase they are in need all while creating unforgettable memories and friendships with people that we would have never met if not for this trip we are all taking on. Althought the task of riding across the country seems like a rather formidable task but the good being done gives me the drive to take it on. I wouldnt be able to do this without the support of my family and friends who have been behind me since the thought of the trip has come about. Thank you to everyone who donates and supports my endeavors and the Bike & Build cause.
