Hi!
I'm Emily (usually referred to as 'Brem' by friends and family), and I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. I am currently studying Child Development at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and I just recently figured out that I will actually be graduating, on time, in the spring of 2011. I am thankful for everything I've experienced thus far in the short but eventful 21 years of my life, and I still cannot believe I'm more than half way to my 22nd birthday. My entire life I've held the title of "the youngest" or "little sister", or anything else that goes along with having older brothers and sisters. But without them, I probably never would have ridden a bike (and raced my brothers to the bottom of the hill), with such ease. In fact, I have my eldest brother to thank for teaching me to rock out on two wheels!
I am currently studying in Sydney, Australia through my university in Wisconsin as an international student. I won't be returning to the states until early July, which was a major factor in helping me decide to participate in the Capital Route this summer. This entire experience abroad has been extraordinary. I was also lucky enough to spend 2 weeks in the lovely New Zealand, visiting both the North and South Islands. I will also be visiting Tasmania during the first week of June! Needless to say, my life is pretty packed with new experiences.
In my spare time I love running, biking, boating, hiking, camping, and anything revolving around the outdoors. My family has a cabin located near Hayward, WI (if your left hand is the shape of Wisconsin, its located roughly around the middle of your middle finger), and I try to get myself up there as frequently as possible. I am loving every minute of being a college student, and I've made some friendships that I'll probably have for the rest of my life.

I have quickly come to realize that raising awareness for affordable housing in America could very well be a major factor in resolving our current economic crisis. I have seen the faces of those directly effected, and the word' unfair' floods my mind. You know that hollow, sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach that develops after being away from home for an extended period of time, and how it immediately disintegrates after crossing the threshold of your front door? Well, imagine that feeling as permanent. This is exactly why I have decided to devote time and effort to raising awareness for affordable housing.
I am pumped for the scenary and the experience, and especially looking forward to the friendships that will form within the Capital Route team.
