I'm Kelsey Kennedy. I am so very excited for this upcoming adventure!

I graduated high school in 2008 and enrolled in AmeriCorps NCCC, where I travelled to 5 different communities and helped with pressing needs. I was sent to Galveston, Texas to do disaster relief, Lafayette Louisiana to do debris removal, New Orleans, Louisiana working with the Recovery School District, New Harmony, Utah building trails, and Anchorage, Alaska working with the boys and girls clubs. I enjoyed my AmeriCorps NCCC experience thoroughly and hope to go back at some point. Service has always been a part of my life. I have been participating in volunteer activities ever since 5th grade when I offered to read to the kids in the special Education programs, throughout high school, where I was awarded with Student Volunteer of the year 2008 in Indianapolis, and continuing through AmeriCorps NCCC and now Bike and Build 2010. Service is not only a big part of my life, it has become my way of life.

I am interested in learning even more than I already know about affordable housing becoming a greater need more and more everyday, and using the information to let people know about the program and how they can help. I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity as an individual volunteer in Indianapolis, and have always left the experience with a  smile on my face and more knowledge about numerous things.

I look forward to this experience knowing it may be a bit of a challenge. I look forward to the learning experiences that will present themselves throughout the training, raising funds, and the adventure itself. I am highly motivated and when I set my mind to it, can do anything.

Some of my hobbies include art, sports (rugby mostly!), random acts of kindness, laughing, hiking, anything with nature, spending time with friends, crosswords, learning about anything and everything, and laughing through life.

I believe everyone has the power to change the world, in their own little way. I love meeting people and building relationships, making connections, and making friends that I will always think of as fantastic people.

I look forward to the adventure and can't wait to partake in such a fantastic way to help while learning SO much about myself along the way.
