Hello hello!
My name is Jenn Bosco and I’m from the lovely state of New Hampshire. I am currently attending the University of New Hampshire where I’m studying Business Management. What am I going to do with this degree when I’m done you may ask? Maybe manage something business orientated? Eh, that doesn’t really tickle my fancy...but traveling and volunteering do!! Which is why I hope to someday work with the Red Cross, traveling around the world, helping out those less fortunate than myself…but who knows where the wind will take me…
I was introduced to Bike and Build through a friend of a friend. I had just moved back from ten months in AmeriCorps*NCCC, where I traveled around the country volunteering for communities in need of help. Since AmeriCorps I have been very intrigued by volunteer work, and as you can imagine the travel bug never really left my system. As I mentioned how boring I felt per lack of traveling/volunteering my friend mentioned this amazing program…you might have heard about it…Bike & Build? I read further about the program, and found myself getting more and more excited, I actually think I fell in love, which is why I can’t wait to start this amazing journey!
In AmeriCorps I was lucky enough to travel around the country, where we drove in a 15 person van where you get to know your 11 team mates and their bodily odors all too well. What more could you ask for than to enjoy this country on a bike, with fresh air and 30 young adults with somewhat of the same interests!
When living in the south (Louisiana and Alabama) we worked with a lot of families struck by Hurricane Katrina, who struggled with affordable housing. I come from a home where I’m lucky enough to have warm meals, heat, and electricity and I couldn’t imagine not having that luxury- which is why I wanted to do Bike and Build… I want to help make a house into a home.
As for me- I like long walks on the beach and candlelight dinne—no, I lied. I can’t do candlelight dinners because I can’t sit still long enough. I love to hike, play Frisbee (even though my aim is awful) and do anything active and outdoors. I’ve always been into competitive sports, however last time I tried to be a tough guy in a soccer game I blew out my knee and had to retire from the ‘active life’ for a little while. Needless to say I’m ready to jump on that wagon again and kick some butt building homes and biking across the country J
